
Ms. Brown is a 1968 graduate of Florida State University School of Social Work; she served in Viet Nam with the American Red Cross 1968-1969 and was a Disaster Relief Caseworker for the American Red Cross on Hurricane Camille in 1969-1970. She held professional positions with the Red Cross Blood Services and leadership volunteer posts with the Stamford, CT, Dallas, TX, and Los Angeles, CA Chapters.
She worked as an executive in the real estate industry in Southern California for fifteen years. Since 1999 she has led the St. Johns County Council on Aging, lead agency for elder services as well as the Community Transportation Coordinator for the county. She is immediate past president of the Florida Association of Senior Centers and has been a board member of Florida Association of Aging Service Providers. She was a 2005 delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. She is a member of the Florida Council on Aging and the American Society on Aging.
Ms. Brown has numerous community affiliations including serving on the boards of United Way, Salvation Army, St. Johns Housing Partnership, St..Augustine-Baracoa Friendship Association, United Way Agency Directors Association, St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Agency, St. Augustine Code Enforcement Board, Inter-Agency Council, and FSU Alumni Association. She is a member of Rotary, International and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Ms. Brown was recently appointed to the Committee on Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation by Robert E. Skinner, Jr., Executive Director of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies (TRB), Washington, D.C.
Ms. Brown is a fifth generation Florida native and the mother of two grown daughters. She lives in historic St. Augustine with her husband, Warren E. Butler.
