For the past 25 years, the COA and a dedicated group of caring volunteers have provided hot, nutritious meals to the homebound elderly in the St. Augustine/St. Johns County community. In addition to a daily meal, this program affords those with limited mobility an opportunity for some often much-needed social contact. A licensed Dietitian closely monitors all menus to ensure that each meal meets 1/3 of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) requirements. Nutrition education is available to each individual to help them understand their special dietary needs. The cost of each meal is $4.00. For those who are unable to pay, meals are provided under the Older Americans Act, a federally funded program. OAA meals require completion of a Prioritization Questionnaire to determine eligibility.
